Welcome to Mrs. Bowidowicz's Class Page!!
2018-19
Dear First Graders and Families,
Welcome to first grade! I am so happy that you will be in my class this year. I know that you will have a great time learning lots of new things and making new friends. I am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
You may also be wondering a little about me. I grew up in Santa Cruz, CA and attended college at UC San Diego, where I also played on the volleyball team. Shortly after graduating I began working at Casita and am so lucky to have been here ever since! I have been a teacher at Casita for over 20 years and am very proud to be at such an amazing school. I am married to a firefighter/paramedic and have two children. Mari is 15, plays tennis, and will be starting high school this year! My youngest is Avery, who is 13 years old, plays volleyball, and will be starting 7th grade. We have a 7 year old dog named Cole, who is a lovable black labrador, and a fluffy white dog named Brody.
This year, through our IB/PYP curriculum, we are going to be doing many fun and challenging things while we learn to become better readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, thinkers, inquirers, citizens, and friends. There are many more things I would like to share with you about the coming year, including, the best time for parent volunteers, our first grade curriculum, homework policy, and classroom expectations. Many of these topics will be covered during Back to School Night, and the rest will be described in notes sent home, via email, or via the ClassDojo app (my favorite!!). If you have any immediate questions please feel free to email me at [email protected]. Soon I will be sending you a link to our ClassDojo which is an easy to use communication app.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
